"Mr. Money Bags," a nickname given to the Silver Spring man by his family because of his curiously good luck is celebrating with his fiancée after winning big on a $50,000 Cash scratch-of game, despite only beginning to play Lottery games earlier this year.
According to the big winner, he felt the itch to play last weekend and stopped at the 7-Eleven location on Frederick Road in Germantown, where he purchased the golden ticket.
He said that there was a line when he got to the convenience store, so he browsed around the store until it was his turn to purchase two $50,000 Cash tickets, which he scratched and scanned while still inside the building.
“I looked and out of the corner of my eye, I saw this message that said, ‘Go to Lottery,’” “Mr. Money Bags stated.” “I paused and scanned it again, this time taking a better look at the message.”
Sure enough, the Montgomery County man had won a five-figure prize, which was confirmed by the cashier who instructed "Mr. Money Bags" to take it home immediately.
The joy kept spreading, as the incredulous winner repeatedly checked his win with his mother and future wife.
“When he came home and showed me he won, we were so excited,” the winner’s fiancée said at Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore. “We just kept scanning it over and over again.”
The money comes at a fortuitous time for the couple, which plans on spending the cash on their upcoming wedding and to pay off some bills, they mused.
